Through the years, my husband and I have spent countless ups and downs. First, we were married at a very young age; my hubby was 23 while I was 20. It was tough for us since those were the years that we should have started living life for ourselves and not tied down. As we journey together in our first years together, we find ourselves fighting very often. We have so many differences that we were not able to see it when we were still single.

We don’t have any budget to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary tomorrow that is why hubby decided that spending time together watching a movie about marriage would be a nice pre-anniversary treat to ourselves. So, just a few hours ago, my husband and I watched Fireproof for the second time. (more…)

For those who are wondering how my son is doing, well, I am happy to announce that he is doing fine. Though he was not able to complete his treatment, he has fully recovered already (we are keeping our faith high!). He was able to take a bath yesterday and take his special exams that he missed last week.

One of my resolutions for this year is to blog as frequently as I could because I don’t want precious memories and noteworthy topics go to waste. I won’t allow my brain bury them deep until I forget about it.

Last Sunday evening was the most disturbing day for me since we entered 2010. Aside from the fact that my mom and my husband are not around (too complicated to explain their whereabouts); my son got a high fever. So, I immediately let him take a pediatric paracetamol. His fever went on for days with no cough or colds. When Thursday came (and so as the money, thank you friends online – you know who you are!), I brought my son to the doctor to get a check-up. I presented my son with red spots on the upper portion of his mouth, palms, arms, legs and soles. As suspected, my son is currently suffering from Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD).
Shocking! Well, HFMD is not related to the animal disease called Foot and Mouth Disease. They are from different viruses. Men can’t get animal disease so as they can’t get human disease. But still HFMD is contagious to infants and children.
Anyway, there is no specific treatment for HFMD but my son’s doctor prescribed an antiviral / immunomodulator syrup which is commonly used to treat chicken pox, mumps, influenza A, rhinovirus, measles, encephalitis, herpes zoster, herpes simplex labialis, hepatitis A, acute viral hepatitis B and herpes genitalis. The same medicine which is used to help individuals suffering from pre-AIDS/persistent generalized lymphadenopathy and AIDS related complex, neoplastic disease, anergy and hypoergy prior to major surgery and severe burns. She also prescribed additional paracetamol for the fever.
Several hours after the check up, my son’s red spots looked like rashes covering his limbs including his ears. So immediately after he ate lunch, he began taking in his medicines. Thank God! His body responded very well. If we were not able to send him to the doctor, he might have something like the picture at the left.
Now, these are my son’s current picture with his rashes slowly diminishing from his skin. I was not able to take pictures of the red spots from his mouth.
