The long wait is finally over! The much anticipated third leg of the Run Rio Trilogy or the Run United 3 will take place in a few weeks. This one’s unique from the previous races because of the inclusion of the ‘Afroman Distance’ or the 32k category. This is the very reason why it reached a hefty 14,000 participants last year which in fact record breaking.
Aside from the ‘Afroman Distance’ category, the usual Ceelin 500m dash, 3k, 5k, 10k, and 21k are still included. This will serve as a preparation for the full 42.195km category in the upcoming 1st ever Run United Philippine Marathon that will take place on October 28. Moreover, Coach Rio dela Cruz, the premier race organizer, assured all the participants that there will a lot of new things and features to look forward to on September 16.
Don’t forget to take note of the new route for this year’s race. For the 32k runners, the race will start as early as 3am at the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) going to University Parkway area all the way to the Kalayaan Flyover. They will then proceed to Buendia, take left at Roxas Boulevard then turn around at Vicente Sotto, Diosdado Macapagal, EDSA, Seaside Boulevard and finally at the Mall of Asia.
With the new route presented, the entire race will then be covering three cities; Taguig, Makati and Pasay and that is something that a participant should be very proud of.
Participants can register online until September 2, 2012 which in fact started last August 6, 2012. They could also register at Riovana in BGC and Katipunan, Quezon City; and Toby’s at SM Mall of Asia and Trinoma until September 9, 2012. Complete race kit would include Active Health Sun Visor, Singlet, Bib with B-Tag and wrist tag for 500m dash runners.
The proceeds of the race will be for the benefit of Gawad Kalusugan and Children’s Hour. Happy running!
