A Woman’s Treasure

Like me, most women hold in their chests a bunch of man-made trinkets. What I meant as chest is the familiar ‘jewelry box’ but warmly taken, ‘heart’ could be a perfect word substitute because everything inside the treasure box is collected for the love of this treasure. Cramped inside my treasure chest are string pearl necklaces, something that I’m sure taking most of the space of other women’s treasure chests as well.

Pearl is the only gem created by a life form or specifically by sea water and fresh water clams. Cultured pearls don’t get far behind their rare, natural and expensive counterparts. They are made the same way and by the same pearl-maker only that they are seeded. Man placed the irritant to cause the clam to form the pearls. It was the Japenese pearl aficionado Kokichi Mikimoto we owe this technology to. He successfully cultured whole Akoya pearls in the early 1900’s, and founded the modern cultured pearl industry. Since then, pearls are in abundance satisfying the cravings of many like me.

I am honored and humbled by the announcement that this blog, Pinay Mommy Online, was nominated as one of the Best Home and Parenting Blogs for National Level in The Philippine Blog Awards 2011. And not only that but also my other blog, Proud Mommy of Three! The feeling is so immaculately great that your blogs are recognized among many other awesome blogs!!

The nomination is so timely because honestly, I have lost the interest to pursue blogging. I arrived at the point where others call it as the plateau. It seems that I have lost the inspiration to write more especially articles from the heart. There are days you can just write words but I missed the time when I really thought of expressing what is inside my heart, my mind and what are the things I wanted to share with all my readers.

So now, that I have been nominated, it gave me the spark again because this time I know that my blogs are indeed noteworthy not only from the eyes of family but also by other people (award giving body) thus giving me the inspiration to write more and pursue blogging more. This time with more passion and zealousness!

Thank you so much to the organizers of The Philippine Blog Awards 2011 for making my blogs one of your finalists! Thank you also to my loyal readers, visitors and friends, without you guys, I might have totally lost it. Thank you to my husband and my children for always being there for me even when I am up or down. I Won 30 Thousand Pesos!!

Yes folks! I won 30 thousand pesos worth of scholarship (not cold cash)!! I was so lucky to be chosen during the Mindanao Blogging Summit 2011 at Iligan City, Philippines.

Before the summit started, they announced that one of the many participants who attended MBS5 and will tweet about the Blog and Social Media Entrepreneurship Program will get one FREE slot. And I was the lucky one who got that slot!! Yehey!! Am so happy! Happy!

So, what did I win?

Well, I won an awesome intensive 9-week online mentorship program called “Blog and Social Media Entrepreneur Course.” This program was launched by The Ateneo – DigitalFilipino Digital Entrepreneurship Program and now on its Third Batch. The online program will be conducted by no other than the subject matter expert, Janette Toral of DigitalFilipino.com. This course is aimed to create a movement to encourage everyone especially as Filipinos to become online entrepreneurs and serve the growing needs of many businesses here in the Philippines and abroad.

What made me so happy about it?

Aside from the fact that I will be learning a lot of things to improve my blogging and online entrepreneurship skills, if I graduate with flying colors in this program, I will be called a Certified Blog and Social Media Entrepreneur!! Gosh!!! That would be fantastically awesome to the highest level!! I love the idea that I will be certified when it comes to blogging and online entrepreneurship!! Yahoo!!

For those who did not know, my blog, Mom Writes, won as one of the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs of 2011 last September 13, 2011. With this, my heart is not only full of happiness but also with immense gratitude to all who believed in me and voted for my blog. God has given me a lot of online friends who believed in me for what I am as a real person and as a blogger.

You see, my blog, Mom Writes, is not a known blog of mine. Most of my visitors there are friends who read the happy thoughts I have. They go there to celebrate with my happiness and be rejuvenated with the thought that good things can really happen (maybe not now but in the future) despite the storms we are going through in life. Those people who really know me and my family background or have been religiously reading this blog (Pinay Mommy Online) knows that the happiness I share at Mom Writes, are those that I have already lost hoped before. So indeed they know that all those things are genuine and are really worth blogging about.

When my friends believed in my blog especially the members of Pinay Mommies Community, I already felt that I have won the blog award even though my blog wasn’t declared yet more so when I saw that other bloggers from the other Filipino blogging community voted for me too. My blog was already a winner for me because of the love and support they have given. So when my blog was announced that it was one of the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs of 2011, my heart jumped for joy the second time because it was already official not only for myself but for all.

With this… I want to thank you all again for the love and support that you have given to my blog, Mom Writes, and also for me, as a blogger, a person, a friend. Thank you so much! God bless you all!!!
