I started collecting postcards from different parts of the world. I do direct swapping and I am also a member of www.postcrossing.com. But when I started this hobby, I was faced with a big predicament. I can’t find the postcard of my place!

A perfect example was when I was still in Bacolod. I spent precious time in looking for a Bacolod City postcards but to no avail. So, I decided to resort to personalized postcard printing. I asked a friend to design and print one for me. To make the long story short, my personalized postcard was a great success!! It was a favorite many times at www.postcrossing.com.

Anyway, I am faced with the same predicament again. I couldn’t find any Cagayan de Oro City postcards. I might resort to postcard printing again. Let see. ;)

I was already a ring master before and still is now for PMC RingSurf. Since PMC RingSurf was for Pinay Mommies Community members only and not all members were EntreCard users, so I opted to start a new project that relates to EntreCard users. It is called “Surf and Drop.” Well, it’s quite the same to “EntreCard DropSurf” who was created by Stay-at-Hom Mom and Military Wife last month. She was really witty to think about this. I owe it to her for reminding me about such resources as RingSurf.

Anyway, the “Surf and Drop” ring can help you easily surf and drop to similar blogs who would like to reciprocate the surfing and dropping love in the blogosphere. It can also help the dropper concentrate at one blog at a time to allow blog post reading or scanning before proceeding to dropping at the EntreCard widget. It’s not only a simple drop but it is doing every blogger a favor – a true “you drop and i follow” way.

He asked me if what I’m doing is legitimate or is it like link farming. So, I replied that I am not doing anything illegal and the reasons for the project was to increase technorati fans, get RSS subscribers and more friends in the blogosphere. And of course I don’t know what link farming is.

Then I did a little research about link farming. After what I have read, I now understand why some people sent me an email before that Project Exlinks was very bad. Maybe they thought I was doing some kind of a link farming strategy. And maybe PEXLINKS TRIPLE LOVE is another.

Ok, to clear things up, what is link farming? This is how Mr. Wiki defines it:

“A link farm is any group of web sites that all hyperlink to every other page in the group. Although some link farms can be created by hand, most are created through automated programs and services. A link farm is a form of spamming the index of a search engine (sometimes called spamdexing or spamexing). Other link exchange systems are designed to allow individual websites to selectively exchange links with other relevant websites and are not considered a form of spamdexing.”

Now, why does link farming bad? Since search engines rank sites based on links, link farming can affect the results and even Page Ranks. Mr.G also bans sites that do this kind of stuff. It’s against their rules.

To clear things up, is Project Exlinks and PEXLINKS TRIPLE LOVE a strategy to propagate link farming? My answer is NO! Why?? As Mr. Wiki defines it, linking to relevant websites are not considered link farming. It only happens when irrelevant blogs link together!! Since we are all personal blogs or culture-based blogs, then it is not considered link farming.

Sometimes at first glance, it may look like one but it’s not. You have to understand the meaning of a link farm. In addition, Mr. Webo also defines a link farm as a Web page that is nothing more than a page of links to other sites. Gesh!! I am sure that my blog is not defined as “a page of links to other sites.” You can read more things here than what you have asked for. LOL!!

And besides, Project Exlinks was designed like any other memes and tags. As I wrote it, “We will be promoting FRIENDSHIP with benefits of FREE backlinks and FREE traffic.” Just as any memes and tags, backlinks and traffic are the benefit of the game of course aside from friends playing and growing close together.

As for PEXLINKS TRIPLE LOVE, the project is still the same but different in a way. The main motivation is still have friends and it is also a grand game of having a lot of technorati fans, RSS readers and a probable EntreCard dropper. The only thought that came to my mind was helping other people’s blog and mine be noticed by others. Every time I click on my RSS readers and my Techno favorites, it comes up with many interesting things to read. With one click from them, I am on the blog post of a certain blog which in turn translates to traffic. If he has an EntreCard widget, then I will drop on him and maybe even comment if the post really satisfied me.

Aside from that, I have 10,000 EC credits that I won from various contests and blog hopping efforts, instead of advertising my blogs to big names in the blogosphere, why not give it to others and let everybody enjoy it. No contest needed! There are many blogs all over the internet but to get yourself exposed to friends will give you even more traffic than passer bys. Why? Because friends are regular readers and friends share each other’s insights. Friends can learn from each other. And friends recommends blogs to other friends!

Anyway, I can’t convince all. But one thing for sure, I am motivated to build such projects because I wanted to have more friends and help everybody get there blogs and even mine across the blogosphere. If you don’t want to participate, it’s your choice. And my blog is not a LINK FARM.

I have been thinking a lot about this lately. It seems that I was having a hard time on how to name it and what should be the nature. I wanted it to be like Valentine Linky Love and Project Exlinks, where not only one blogger gets all the love but everybody who participates. So, around 5:00 a.m. dawn, I came up with a wacky name on how to call it! And I thought of calling it PEXLINKS TRIPLE LOVE!!

Ok…the first question is why TRIPLE?? Well, if you want to join the project, there are three pre-requisites before you can join. You need to have the following:

1. EntreCard Account
2. Technorati Account
3. RSS Readers Account (Bloglines, Google Reader, etc.)

This project aims to achieve the following.

1. To have a lot of technorati fans.
2. To have a lot of RSS subscribers. (if we can’t visit all blogs, we can always check what’s new in just one click if you use a rss reader)
4. To have regular EntreCard droppers.
5. To get your blog exposed to others (you might have great content – all it needs is a little push to be seen by the world).
6. To have more friends in the blogosphere!!!

These goals will be impossible to achieve if you don’t participate and follow the instructions. It would also be unfair if you just add your links and don’t put an effort to help others. Ok, there is a possibility that the list will be longer and you might not follow anymore (we have our own lives to take care – LOL!! – I know), actually you can stop (if you want) if you have faved and subscribed 300 participants. But, why 300?? Well, I guess it’s a good number – you can only make 300 drops a day at EntreCard and the 300 movie was great (hehehe)! I think it’s nice.

So, what should a participant do?

1. Write a post about this project and how this project can show love to fellow bloggers.
2. After that, leave a comment here with your post permalink, technorati fave link, rss/feeds link, your blog’s name and link, EntreCard user details (why? read more below) and email (for updates please). You can optionally grab the banner if you want.
3. Then of course, please don’t forget to do the following:

  • Fave 300 participants of this projects (more if you want)
  • Add the blogrolling script at your post (to the post about this contest)
  • Subscribe to their RSS/Feeds using bloglines – highly recommended (or any reader or email subscription if you want).
Since, we are still starting the project, please don’t expect to have 300 participants in one day. This will take weeks or even months. All we need is to help each other in spreading the word of love throughout the blogosphere. Thus, you are required to visit this post once in awhile to fave, link and subscribe some new links.

Now…now…since mommy loves to share too! She is happy to announce that: “I WILL BE GIVING OUT 50 FREE EC CREDITS TO THE FIRST 150 PARTICIPANTS OF THIS PROJECT!!” Of course, only to those have completely: a) posted about this project at your blog, b) faved my blogs, and c) subscribed to my blogs. This is our latest update as of this day. If you noticed some of the old links has been updated and deleted. Just as I said, I will be deleting deadlinks and non personal blogs. Codes of these updated batches is readily available by email request.
