UNICEF celebrates Global Breastfeeding Week by taking the message beyond health clinics
When I gave birth to Baby Bella, I was not able to breastfeed her after four hours because I could not stand up and go to the nursery. So, the nurses in the hospital gave her milk formula for the next succeeding hours. When the doctor approved that she can be transferred at my room because of her stable vital signs, I was able to breastfeed her but not satisfied her hunger since I was not yet lactating.
August is the National Breastfeeding Month here in the Philippines. So yesterday, SM City Bacolod through their SM Cares Program celebrated it with an event by inviting lactating and pregnant moms of the city. They have a baby shower type of event with a plus because they have invited speakers to convey the importance of breastfeeding, Lamaze techniques and proper nutrition during pregnancy. (more…)
