Earlier this year, the four of us had our family staycation at one of the oldest hotels here in Cagayan de Oro. And surprisingly, we had an unexpected family staycation last month at the newest hotel in the city – 1A Express Hotel. It came as a surprise since I didn’t expect that we will be spending another staycation in the second quarter of this year. I guess I should be prepping up for the third quarter, eh? Anyway, let me share with our experience with 1A Express Hotel…
1A Express Hotel is fairly new. They just opened recently to the public and it was making a lot of buzz in our local social media circle. I got curious and we decided to try it out. And we did for 3 days and 2 nights!
Location
1A Express Hotel is located at One Avenue Building, C.M. Recto Avenue, Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental, Northern Mindanao, Philippines. It is conveniently situated at one of the busiest commercial areas in the city. It is a stone’s throw away from Centrio Ayala Mall, SM CDO Downtown Premier, and Gaisano City Mall. If you have business in Limketkai Center, it only takes one ride with less than 3 to 5 minutes travel time.

Checking In
We arrived at the hotel around 2 o’ clock in the afternoon. Check-in time is 2:00 PM. So it was perfect. Checking in is easy. Confirm your reservation, if you have one, and then you just fill up a couple of forms. Your ID is needed to confirm identity. Then, they will ask for 500 pesos cash deposit wherein you can claim upon checking out.
For payment options, they accept cash, ATM/debit cards, and all major credit cards.
Rooms
We booked one (1) Family Deluxe Room. It has two queen size beds and was very spacious, comfortable, and clean. The room has cable TV, refrigerator, hot and cold shower, basic toiletries, complimentary two (2) bottles of water and two (2) sachets of instant coffee. They have an electric kettle inside the room. It makes it easier to prepare instant hot beverages.

If you are here for business or for whatever purpose you are in the city, you won’t get disappointed. You can work all day and rest comfortably all night without the worries of a backache in the morning. Their beds are really comfortable and the sheets are smooth.

1A Express Hotel is designed primarily to cater people who are visiting the city for business or a place where one can comfortably sleep before heading out for another long travel. From the word express, you can get everything done fast and conveniently here. At the ground floor of One Avenue Building, you can find a laundry shop and a 24-hour convenience store.

Food
Each room comes with a complimentary breakfast for two (2). Since we are four, I paid for the other two (2) breakfast meals. Well, I didn’t really mind since the food wasn’t that expensive. Their breakfast meals taste just about right but the fried chicken meal and pancake both takes first place in our taste buds.

Their breakfast area at the fourth floor is open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM. After breakfast, the area can be converted to a function room to hold meetings or for small events. It’s open for rent.
Internet Connection
They have a very fast and reliable Wi-Fi connection wherein you can access anywhere in the hotel. So if you are checking in for business and you need an internet connection, this place is very ideal. As for me, I didn’t let the chance passed by. I worked on my pending tasks and watched missed episodes of my favorite Korean dramas.
Hotel Staff
Everyone in the hotel was warm, friendly and accommodating. They are also quick to respond even for requests done over the phone.

Since the hotel is still at their soft opening and its summer, you can avail of their summer promo with almost 50% off from regular rate. Best available price starts at 2000 pesos per room. During my stay, we availed the summer promo of 3000 pesos for the Family Deluxe Room.
The hotel has twenty-five (25) rooms including one (1) PWD room. Prices vary depending on room type and season.
