5 Essential Purchases to Help You Start a New Home on the Right Foot

Posted on October 24, 2014December 9, 2017 by MOMMY RUBY

Purchasing your first property can be a strange time in your life, and your purchase will come with a bag of mixed emotions. You will feel excited, worried, and maybe even confused, but without some planning, you will almost certainly feel helpless. Planning your new home is essential, especially as most new home owners are working on a budget. Think about the areas that you need to spend your money on, and decide on the essentials for a comfortable start to your home life. Here are some essential purchases for those starting a new home.

Comfortable Bed

Comfortable BedBuying a comfortable bed is essential for any household, and without one your life can be truly miserable. It is advisable to set aside a good portion of your budget for a bed and a good quality mattress. An uncomfortable night’s sleep can lead to both mental and physical problems. patient.co.uk tells us that 1 in 3 people have difficulty sleeping, and if you are one of those 1 in 3 it’s important to make your new home as comfortable as possible to help this.

Dining Table

Though there are many items of furniture you could buy, especially when it comes to seating, a dining table is an essential purchase. You can quickly become bored with TV dinners, and it can be embarrassing when visitors come for everybody to be eating off their laps. There is also the fact that a dining table can be used for so many other things, and that is why it becomes essential rather than useful. If you have work you bring home from the office, or perhaps you are studying in the evenings you will find working on the floor or a coffee table awkward and unsuitable to do good work. It can also be used as a base for your laptop, the center for your hobby or even the place to play Monopoly. The dining table can be adapted to too many uses to ignore having one.

Steam Cleaner

Steam CleanerOnce you have moved in, you will obviously want to show your home off to your family and friends. However, without the benefit of a steam cleaner you could find yourself struggling for hours to get your home clean for a potential visit. Investing in a cleaner like one of the steam cleaners in the Karcher range will allow you toclean all of your surfaces and soft furnishings effortlessly and with great results. A steam cleaner really is essential and a blessing for a new home owner, and will help keep your home fresh and clean with nothing but water.

Washing Machine

A washing machine may have been considered a luxury at one point, but now it is surely essential in a well-organized home. The convenience of being able to throw your dirty clothes into the washing machine and leaving it to do its work is a godsend for many busy home owners, and the alternatives of washing by hand or time consuming (and expensive) trips to a laundry shop, make this a completely essential buy.

Combination Microwave Oven

You may not want to cook your Sunday dinner in a microwave oven, but it is comforting to know that you can.  A combination microwave will allow you to toast, bake, broil, and dare I say it, microwave. From heating up snacks to roasting a turkey, a combo oven is as essential as the food you will cook in it.

According to the BBC, over 60,000 first time buyers purchased a property in 2013. If you’re one of the many new homeowners this year, then hopefully this list will help you remember the essentials you need to start your new adventure on the right foot.

These are a must haves when starting to live in a new home. I remember being on the market when we bought our house, it was exciting and stressful at the same time lol.
