Cleaning and Maintaining Air Conditioning Units

Posted on August 3, 2011December 6, 2013 by MOMMY RUBY

Since we bought our air conditioning unit in Bacolod City, we only tried cleaning it manually. We didn’t hire any aircon technician to clean it or even check for maintenance. But when we arrived here in Cagayan de Oro City, my father always noticed that our air conditioning unit is dropping a few amounts of water. He said that the water might be stuck inside.

So one time, when he hired someone to professionally clean all the air conditioning units in his house, he included ours. When the technician opened it, indeed what my father speculated was true. So the technician cleaned it and told me that I should take care of our air conditioning unit. The water might damage the compressor parts and might affect its performance thus making us pay high electricity bills.

After the technician was finished cleaning, he did a routine check up on the unit. While waiting for him to finish, I told him that there is only one compressor inside it. I asked why he mentioned compressor parts, and then he replied that inside the compressor are many parts. If we damage one or two inside, I need to buy a whole compressor because there are no local stores that sell compressor parts. Not taking care of it means wasting a lot of money in electricity bills and in replacing parts!!

Well, honestly, I have no problem about what he said because I know that maintaining any item or unit will last long if they are cared properly. It would definitely save a lot of money in the pocket!!

I agree. Cleaning one’s AC is important to ensure that it lasts. With today’s heat, ang hirap talaga without an AC nowadays. Hehehe!

Cleaning our AC is important. Not only will it work at its best but you’re also taking care of your investment.

Aside from this, you also need to choose an ideal brand of AC and those that have a great quality..

AC cleaining is important for both energy saving and dust removal. It should be cleaned every 6 months.

Good advice! I almost became an HVAC technician so I know a little bit and yes as with any mechanical device proper maintenance can prevent more expensive costs in the future.
