It has been a long time since my children and I went into a staycation. I think it was back in 2013 that we had one. So last weekend, we decided to take another as to relieve stress since I had a turbulent month. My internet connection at home got so problematic and while one of my servers is giving me a headache.
So we set about finding the right hotel for us, a reliable internet connection and a swimming pool for the kids to enjoy. After searching, we booked two rooms at Mallberry Suites Business Hotel using the Traveloka App.
Location
Mallberry Suites Business Hotel is located at Osmeña St, Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental, Northern Mindanao, Philippines. Its location is very accessible to all the commercial districts in Cagayan de Oro City. Most companies held meetings and conferences here because of its accessibility, thus it’s aptly called as a business hotel.
Rooms
We booked two (2) Deluxe Rooms. Each room has one double bed and one single bed. The room has all the basics of a hotel room should have such as a study table, cable TV, and hot and cold shower. It may seem like an ordinary hotel room to me but my children loved it. They enjoyed the fact that there is a bathtub! It was very a blissful experience for them.
One Double Bed and One Single Bed
Each rooms comes with a work table.
Complimentary bottled water and coffee.
Bathtub!
Complimentary soaps and shampoo.
Amenities
They have a lot of amenities since they are a business hotel. Most of it is geared towards conferences, meetings, and such. Of course, you can still use the place for birthday parties, weddings, and other occasions.
For us, we only used the most important of all (for the kids) – the indoor swimming pool! We wouldn’t have booked here in the first place if not of the indoor swimming pool.
Mallberry Suites Business Hotel Indoor Pool
The kids went on a night swimming. They enjoyed their time as they were the only ones there. I didn’t swim with them since I wasn’t feeling well. I just took pictures and videos. To be honest, if I wasn’t feeling sick, I would have a swim with them. The pool looked so inviting.
My kids enjoying the indoor pool.
Food
After checking in, we had our brunch at the hotel’s lounge. The food tasted OK and the price was affordable comparing it with the usual hotel price. I have been at there lounge many times in the past for meetings. They have been consistent with the taste that is for sure.
Our brunch at the hotel lounge.
Our breakfast buffet the next day.
Wi-Fi Connection
I didn’t like their internet connection. It was way too slow. I wasn’t able to finish one decent work of all my pending workloads. Maybe I was expecting too much for a business hotel. I really thought that business hotels would have fast internet connections as most businesses in the world today use the internet for faster communication. I was wrong. I can’t even check the speed since the speedtest.net webpage didn’t load up properly.
But of course, I am an optimistic person. I just thought of it as a way for me to really enjoy the staycation with the kids and rest.
Overall Impression
Mallberry Suites Business Hotel is kind of old. I don’t remember when it was established, but I believe it is more than a decade already. They did a pretty good job in maintaining the facilities but you can’t hide the fact that age shows.
Overall, our stay was comfortable. The bed was comfy, none of us woke up with a bad back. The place was clean. The covers didn’t smell (I hate strong detergents) and the place was quite.
If you are looking for a place for quick business meeting, their hotel lounge is recommendable. The place is quite and has electrical outlets if you need a laptop. The food is affordable. If you are looking for a larger space and some privacy for your business meetings, they have boardrooms available.
Booking is Easy with Traveloka
If you want to book a room in Mallberry Suites Business Hotel, you can do so easily with the use of Traveloka App on your mobile phone. Just a few swipes and taps, you can easily book a room with no hassle at all.
First, you have to download the Traveloka App at Google Play or App Store. You have nothing to worry because downloading the app is free.
After downloading the app, you can immediately open it or look for its icon on your mobile phone. Click the icon and you will be welcome to this page…
Then, before you look for a hotel to book, I suggest you click on “Ongoing Promos.” You’ll find the current promos and their corresponding coupon codes that will give you awesome discounts. It is best to check it first before anything else.
Click the promo you want to avail. Then you will be redirected with the promo mechanics and the coupon code.
Once you tapped on the COPY word, a gray button will appear next to the discount code. After that, just tap back button to go back to the main menu. Then tap, “Hotels.” Then you will see this page wherein you can swipe in the details of your booking. You can choose the option “Hotels Near You” or type in the specific place where you want to book a hotel.
Once you’re done, tap “SEARCH.” Then a list of hotels will be presented to you.
If you want to make the search more specific, click “FILTER” to narrow the search considering the price, star rating, and facilities. For me, I chose to filter the price and set it to 0 to 5,000 pesos and tapped Swimming Pool for Facilities. Then tap, “DONE.”
Based on your filter, you will be presented with hotels. You can tap on each hotel to read more about them: location, TripAdvisor reviews, and main facilities. Of course, I chose Mallberry Suites Business Hotel. Then tap “SELECT ROOM” to book the type of room you want based on your request. Here, I chose two (2) Deluxe Room.
After you have decided what type of room to book, click “SELECT.” The next page will contain your booking details: check-in and check-out time, their corresponding dates, and type of room. You will be then asked to log in your Traveloka account or fill in your contact details. Tap the arrow of choice. As you can see, I used filling in my contact details. Tap “DONE” when finished.
Then you will go back to your booking details and will be asked if you’re booking a room for yourself or someone else. If you have any special request, you can note it on the option provided. Then tap “CONTINUE.” Then you will be asked to review all the booking details before continuing for payment. Scroll down to read them all. When you are sure of everything, you can tap “CONTINUE” at the bottom.
On the payment page, you will be asked to pay via Credit/Debit Card (VISA and MasterCard accepted) or pay via 7/11, coins.ph or over bank counters. As for me, I choose to use the coupon code. I tapped “USE COUPON” and then typed the coupon code. Tapped, “USE.” Then I was redirected to a page that confirmed my payment.
After a few seconds, I saw my hotel voucher. I tapped it and I saw a summary of my booking details.
Booking a room at Mallberry Suites Business Hotel was indeed very easy with Traveloka. It was easy to find a hotel that suits my preferences. It would have been easier if I registered an account. I was so excited that I booked our rooms without registering. If you register and book a room, it will be easier and you will have more flexibility in managing your bookings.
By the way, remember that Traveloka is not only for booking hotels. It can also help you find and book local and international flights. To sum it up, it is an awesome up for everyone who travels. Booking a flight and a room is so easy with a few swipes of your fingers.
One of the first things I look for when we’re visiting a new place is good hotel. My husband and I both value being able to rest after a day of exploring, so we really make sure that the hotels we book are comfortable. We’ve never been to Cagayan de Oro, but will make sure to take note of this if ever we do decide to visit. I don’t mind older hotels, as long as the beds are still good and the room isn’t musty. Thank you for the honest feedback, I like that you gave a fair review of the place. 🙂
I love the indoor pool at Mallberry. Their rooms are also quite okay, even if the hotel is a bit old already. My Mallberry favorites, however, are Elements Spa and Cafe Laguna. 🙂 You should check them out the next time you go on staycation there.
I haven’t tried the Traveloka app yet, but I will definitely download it right after posting this! Sounds like it’s a really convenient app. Thank you for the recommendation, Pinay Mommy! 🙂
This looks like an interesting place for a weekend staycation with the family! I would really enjoy the bathtub and my little man will definitely love to swim in their pool!
Wow, booking with this app seems very fast and convenient. Hopefully, I can get to try it out one of these days.
Traveloka looks like a great app to have if you travel often. My kids love staycations! They have a hotel rating system that includes quality of pillows, good tv channels and bathtub or not. We are going on a little beach holiday this weekend I hope the beach has good shade.
Oh so this is in Cagayan? We had a family friend there and we were planning to visit the place. We just need to find time! I’ve heard about traveloka and its a good booking site for hotels. You got a pretty good deal on that room by the way. Its nice and i love it becaause they got a pool. Will remember this one for future reference! 🙂
That Traveloka app seems interesting, thanks for sharing that one. And welcome to the City of Golden friendship 😀 It’s nice to hear you guys enjoyed your stay here. And yeah, it’s true that Mallberry is kinda giving an old vibe now, we do hope they renovate and continue to be one of the best hotels in CDO
Looks like a great place to stay with family. The room furnishings all look so good. I haven’t tried the traveloka apps yet. Seems like another good helpful one.
I haven’t tried booking through Traveloka, I might consider it in one of my travels. About the hotel, I like the look of the room, it reminds me a bit of I’M Hotel in Makati. I think I’d be disappointed with the Wifi too. I mean it’s one of the most important things that I look for when I stay anywhere. I hope they could do something about it.
been finding a lot of ads about traveloka. my friend even asked about it but i honestly haven’t tried booking from its site. good to hear your booking went smooth and you enjoyed your staycation with the family. do you think traveloka has the cheapest price among known online bookings sites ie agoda, travelbook, xplorra, booking.com, expedia? I am interested in traveloka’s ongoing promo though.. will try this app! thanks for the review!
I just read about Traveloka recently. My family also wanted to take a break and go on staycation but I have an infant and I’m thinking that traveling with him might be a little tiring. Not that I’m complaining but I want to get myself a safe and tested babywear first to bring him at ease anywhere. As for the app, I’m not really into those excruciating process in booking but if I’ll save a lot, I will definitely download the app.
Got a similar Gig too and I managed to bring my family along and it was such a time well spent with them. Really appreciate Traveloka’s campaign.
I’ve been to Cagayan de Oro at least thrice, all for official functions. In those cases, someone else booked my trip.
Should we decide to visit CDO on personal trip, I’ll check on the app to book our flights and find a hotel.
By the way, w/ the pics you’ve shared, indeed your kids are having a good time.
We also made a booking via Traveloka and I am impressed by how fast and easy my booking was. To compare with other online booking apps, Traveloka is way too commendable. Your choice of hotel is impressive as well.
I’ve never heard of Traveloka before, and I think the easy system is quite good, and booking sounds great and cheap tho. Staycation are so good, and I know what you’re liking about it, but the most important part I guess is choosing the best hotel you can afford : for me the important thing is the breakfast! I need to be sure they’ll provide a healthy one!
