Yes, I am attending the Philippine Homeschool Conference 2017 this coming Saturday, October 7 in Manila. This is the second time. My first was last year and I had fun aside from learning so much about homeschooling. This time, I will be attending with my children and I am super excited about it. Why? Well, let me tell you five (5) reasons why.
Reason # 1 – Learning Sessions
The time I attended my first Philippine Homeschool Conference last year, I was still in the process of enrolling in our chosen homeschool provider. So basically, I was a complete newbie when I attended. I had apprehensions about my decision to homeschool my two younger kids, but when I attended last year, I was encouraged by the speaker and fellow homeschooling mom. I learned a lot about homeschooling that by the end of the day, I felt so happy and satisfied that I decided to attend again.
This year, with an eager heart to learn, I am excitingly looking forward to hearing from the keynote and breakout speakers. They have invited a number of people that are known for their passion for helping children to learn. Senator Kiko Pangilinan and Efren Peñaflorida Jr. are just one of those.

Reason # 2 – Homeschoolers Fellowship
I live in Cagayan de Oro City. That is an airplane ride away from Manila, our country’s capital. This means that we don’t really have an established network in our city when it comes to homeschooling. Though I just recently created a Facebook group called “CDO Homeschoolers Network.” we haven’t met or organized events. So, I am excited to attend the conference because I want to fellowship with my fellow homeschooling parent. Receiving and giving encouragement really makes a difference with our individual homeschooling journeys.

Aside from fellow homeschooling parents, I also have friends that I met online that are bloggers like me who are also homeschooling their kids. They are attending the event and I am super excited about meeting them again.

Reason # 3 – Kid’s Participation
Though the conference is catered to homeschooling parents, PHC2017 organized events for children as well. Since I am flying in with my kids, I am super excited for them to see that we are not alone in our homeschool journey. They will meet fellow homeschooled kids as they participate in the Kid’s Activities that will occur simultaneously during the conference. I am sure they will enjoy the varied activities from arts, sports, and crafts.

Reason # 4 – Expo Booths
Yes, I am totally looking forward to the expo as well. Last year, I was not able to buy books that I wanted because I didn’t prepare that much. This time, I have allocated an amount for books and other things that my children and I will want to buy. Since we have a limited budget, we might not buy that much but at least this time, we can buy souvenirs and helpful materials that can help our homeschool journey.
Reason # 5 – Family Bonding
Since homeschooling is a family matter, I am very happy that I will be attending with my children. The expenses might be bigger than last year, but for me, this is an investment, not only for their education but also for our family. Through this event, I hope and pray that all of us will be on the same page when it comes to homeschooling and will also see the importance of education and family.
