Last Tuesday, my husband, my baby boy and I went to the doctor for follow-up. My husband filed for a leave in surprise to show support (pogi points for hubby) for that day because it was the time I was scheduled to have an ultrasound to make sure the baby has a heartbeat. As we hoped for, the doctor was able to read the baby’s heartbeat and so far, everything is quite normal and in place. So, it was a great relief for both hubby and me. I am carrying a live baby, not twins. LOL!!
Anyway, after the ultrasound, I went to my OB doctor and had a casual talk on few things. She scheduled me again for a urinalysis to check on the development of my UTI problem. So, I went and had one then we left. The next day, my OB doctor texted that my infection increased though I have took antibiotics for almost a week now. So, she gave me another set of stronger antibiotics which is safe for pregnant women. Unfortunately, the price of each capsule is Php 90.00 roughly about $2.00 each. Take note that is the cheapest of its kind.
Having a UTI really worries me. If you have heard about the Brazilian model who got her legs and arms amputated and later died because of a complicated UTI and also other several cases of babies developing sicknesses and abnormalities because the infection spread from the mom to the fetus, that makes me worried sick! You don’t need to get clinical trials to certify such cases. These are proven medical cases!
Anyway, I am hoping these new antibiotics will be worth it. Aside from the most common side effects it has like diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headaches/migraines, dizziness and abdominal pain, I hope it will take the UTI away from me and my baby. I hope God will use them to heal me and keep my baby safe.
By the way, my baby is already 2 months and according to www.baby2see.com, here are the developments my baby has right now:
* The embryo is measures about 18 mm (3/4 inch) in length.
* Their arms and legs are growing and location of the elbows and toes are visible..
* The feet and hand buds have appeared.
* Starts to practice moving (not felt by mom till week 20)
* The stomach is being made from part of the gut.
* The face is beginning to take shape.
* Your baby’s mouth and nostrils are starting to develop.
* Teeth begin to develop under the gums.
* The eyes can now be seen as small hollows on each side of the head.
The arms and legs continue to develop – These limbs are stretching out more and more. Later on you will be feeling those feet and elbows up close and personal right in your bladder. The embryonic tail has almost disappeared.
The pituitary gland is also forming and the embryo is beginning to grow muscle fibers. The heart has divided into the right and left chambers and is beating about 150 beats a minute which is about twice the rate of an adult.
The baby’s facial features are visible, including a mouth and tongue. The eyes have a retina and lens. The major muscle system is developed, and the baby starts to practice moving. The baby has its own blood type and the blood cells are produced by the liver now instead of the yolk sac.
wow, another blessing to the family. congratulations and hope your UTI gets treated before it worsens…=)
Just dropping by.
When I read your post, I remember our 3 months baby which died while she was on her mother womb.
I hope that your pregnancy went well and you and your baby continue to be healthy.

Hello Ate! Congratulations:-)
God bless you 🙂
