I have been a fan of Keanu Reeves since Speed. I adored him too much because of that movie that I decided to watch all his movies (including Sandra Bullock’s) while I was growing up. He was the epitome of my Hollywood puppy love.
But as I started adulting, life got busier and watching movies have become a privilege. As much as possible, I still try to catch up on all Keanu’s new movies. And just recently, I watched “John Wick: Chapter 2” with a friend.

The Plot
The story picked up from where they left from the first movie, John Wick (2014), and of course with the introduction of new antagonists. The story follows ex-hitman Jonathan “John” Wick (Keanu Reeves) tracking his car that was stolen as shown in the first film.
On Sequels
The continuity of the plot was well-transitioned and it didn’t leave me hanging with questions. Familiar characters from the first film like Winston (Ian McShane), Charon (Lance Reddick) and Jimmy (Thomas Sadoski), the neighborhood cop, are still there. The new antagonists in the movie were slowly introduced as the story unraveled.
Action Sequence
Since this is an action thriller film, I was anticipating a lot of action sequence and it did not disappoint. It was indeed filled with action sequences mostly from close range combat. The sequel is more kick-ass than the first. What amazes me more is knowing Keanu Reeves did all his stunts in this film. He trained for months!
My Cinema Cents
The movie was great. Not because I am a fan of Keanu Reeves, but because I like the entirety of what I saw. When watching sequels, we all have a certain expectation of what we want to see and this movie gave me what I was expecting… more glimpse of John Wick’s world in the past, the organization, and how much more his character can evolve.
This movie is rated R-16 due to violent content. It runs 2 hours and 2 minutes. Genre: Action, Crime, Thriller.

My boyfriend likes both films. I had to ask him for a summary of the first film since I haven’t watched it yet. (Yes, bummer) However, I also like what I saw. It did not disappoint at all with all the action sequences and intense scenes. What made me curious about this was seeing the training video of Keanu just before watching the film. So really, it made me expect more but was actually satisfied with what I saw!
I’m excited to watch this. I’m such a big fan of Keanu Reeves. I LOVED him in Speed. He has plenty of movies to choose from.
