YES! That is right! One of the bold moves I have done this year is to start teaching again. It was back in 2013 that I went back to school to take up Professional Education and then took the board exam the following year. My first formal teaching experience was in Vietnam in 2015. After that, I went back to focusing on working online.
It has been years since I taught kids. Though I have frequent training and workshop events for adults, I missed teaching in a classroom setting especially with kids. I always believe that teaching is my gift and such should be pursued as a vocation and not merely as a profession.
Today was actually my first day at school. I taught Science in Grade 3, 5, and 6. I will be teaching English to Grade 3, 4, and 5 tomorrow. Then I will be teaching MAPEH to my advisory class, Grade 4, this Friday.
My first day went well. The kids were warm and also a little bit sad because the teacher I am replacing had their goodbyes. As for teaching the kids, well, I am loving the first subject I taught – Science. This was my favorite subject back in the day.
My youngest daughter whom I am currently homeschooling went to school with me. I enrolled her to Grade 3. Her educational status as of the moment is complicated but I am glad that she is happy that she is coming to work with me and have friends along the way.
As I mentioned before, my August will be challenging. Of course, aside from moving again, there are still some decisions that will definitely impact me and my children. Teaching, though my passion, will be one of those challenging tasks that I have decided to embark upon this month (for the whole school year that is). Despite that, I am still excited!
