Just this morning, I was shocked with the news that Patrick Swayze died at the age of 57 years old because of pancreatic cancer yesterday, September 14, 2009 Monday. He is most remembered in the movies “Dirty Dancing” and “Ghost” where he earned three Golden Globe nominations for each movie.
Anyway, it is quite a shock hearing this news since the day I heard Ed McMahon died. Since then all the great celebrities I have known while growing up died because of cancer or sickness related crime (ie, Michael Jackson). Not only international celebrities but even our local political figure, Former President Corazon C. Aquino, a symbol of democracy and freedom here in the Philippines, died just last month as well.
2009 is indeed a year you can’t forget. All famous and great people have rested in peace within this year. I hope the death bandwagon will stop. It is so sad to lose many great people just in just one year!
