Everyone has experienced the realization of their homes being unorganized after an extended period of time without going through everything and organizing. The longer the time in between heavy cleaning sessions, the more unorganized things tend to become, so taking the time to go over everything can be extremely time consuming. While everyone has their own methods of organizing their homes, here is a few tips on how to get it done properly.
Preparation
Planning a date and timeframe of when you want to get it done will help you a lot. By doing this you are setting aside time to organize which will help you lose any distractions that might arise. During your preparations, make sure to have any tools you might need such as boxes, cleaning products, labelers, and stuff like that. Once you have the time set and everything you will need, then just pick a room to start in.
Get Rid of Your Junk
Organizing doesn’t mean storing everything you possibly can in as little space as possible. If you find things you haven’t used in a long time and you have no need for it, get rid of it! If you can sell it, set it aside and then try and sell it. Your CDs, DVDs, and games are really easy to sell because of services like MusicMagpie. The rest of the stuff can be sold in local classified ads, yard sales, or can be donated if you feel like giving back to the community. The last thing you want is to keep everything that you don’t need and then you have to go back at a later date just to get rid of them then. Why do double work for nothing?
Don’t Be Afraid to Make a Mess
Organizing consists of going through everything and then placing what you need back into a suitable place. So if you need to flip a drawer upside down and make a mess, its fine because in the end everything will be where it needs to be. Making a large mess is always going to be a part of organizing so don’t try to avoid it because you might miss something and then will need to take time and look for it later.
Clean Everything
Once you have organized an area, make sure it is really clean afterwards. By doing this you will be much more proud of the area and try to keep it organized and clean as it possibly can be. If you leave it dirty then it will just continue to gather dust and become unpleasant to the eye.
These are just a few of the countless number of tips that can be given for organizing your house. Everyone has their own methods, so if you find that you work better with different tips, then follow those because the end result should be the same, a clean and organized living space that you can be truly proud of. Just remember to take your time and get it exactly the way you want it.
Procrastination is my enemy when it comes to organizing and keep our house clean. I also problem with hoarding but maybe about 5% out of 100%. I always keep junks which supposedly in the garbage. But with this article and great tips, it reminds i have to do something, much better this time.

And speaking of cleaning and organizing, I am still on that path. LOL! Taking care of two kids, a house, and everything sure can be very overwhelming. I am actually doing good at getting rid of things like clothes that we no longer wear or that we don’t like. 🙂 I do make a huge mess mommy Ruby during organizing, then after that I clean and vacuum the floors. 🙂 I have my own method to my own madness pa jud when it comes to that.
my husband is so crazy when it comes to organizing his stuff. everything is organize in his office. if one spec on the floor or on the table, he pick it up right away and put it somewhere or throw it if its not important. he does this every day. he organize his stuff everyday, so that he will not spend a day organizing. as for me.. i am quite the opposite. lol.
