When the World Health Organization (WHO) declared that the coronavirus outbreak is now a pandemic, I was terribly shocked. I never thought that it would become a worldwide problem when I was still hoping that the outbreak would be contained.
It didn’t feel real until the school I was currently teaching suspended face-to-face classes and all activities were halted. It was confusing and at the same time disheartening. All the plans that I was looking forward to were all canceled. My 2020 planner which started with a lot of exciting plans and goals has been filled with “canceled” stickers. It was devastating to see since one of those canceled plans was our family trip to Taiwan. It would have been our second family international travel for WanderFourLife.
Illusive Healthcare During Pandemic
What’s even worse is that I experienced a health problem during the locked down, I was experiencing severe shoulder and neck pain. I know my shoulder was caused by me carrying a heavy backpack during my solo travels in 2019, but it became worse and the pain was unbearable. To my fear of being exposed to COVID-19, I had no choice but to bear with the pain. I had to take over-the-counter pain killers just to get a good night’s sleep.
My family and friends didn’t want me to visit the hospital. They feared that visiting the hospital might not only bring a diagnosis but also COVID-19. And that made me think as well… I can’t risk family. I am a single mom and my three kids are depending on me. That was a sad thought to bear!
Aside from that, my parents are already in their senior years with existing ailments while my children are all asthmatics! Even one small health problem will prove to be a horrendous experience to go through.
Even Healthcare Problems Has Digital Solutions and Problems
Then I heard about teleconsultation – a broad technology-based solution in providing healthcare services to patients in distant places or in this case, a pandemic. I was happy when I heard about this. It gave me hope but at the same time a problem. Most hospitals and doctors don’t have a prepared facility or process to have a teleconsultation done. Everyone was adjusting! Everyone is doing things for the first time!
Then Came Sanofi’s WeHealth
And true to Sanofi’s dedication to providing the best healthcare service to the Filipino people, they launched WeHealth – a holistic solution and innovation e-Health ecosystem that aims to connect doctors, patients, and healthcare providers. This implies you can get medical consultations whenever or have your meds delivered directly to your home. Quality healthcare in a couple of taps away.
