Television sets need something to connect the tv to the channels. While the most common would be an aerial antenna, there are others that use cable or satellite connection. Before all these, there were only the rabbit antennas. They are the indoor tv antennas that are usually placed on top of the tv itself and the ears turned accordingly to find the clearest signal of the most common channels in the locality.
An aerial antenna needs someone to install it on the rooftop, usually by the household owner or you can request an abled person to do it. Without one, then you can just do with the rabbit version. If you are not a tv addict, it will do.
