Elio (2025) Movie Review: A Heartwarming Cosmic Adventure for the Whole Family

Posted on June 18, 2025June 18, 2025 by MOMMY RUBY

As a mom, a believer, and someone who cherishes meaningful family time, I always keep my eye out for movies that are not only entertaining but also spark deeper conversations with my kids. Disney and Pixar’s Elio is one such gem—a cosmic adventure wrapped in laughs, wonder, and a big heart.

A Quick Peek Into Elio

Without giving away too much (no spoilers here!), Elio follows an imaginative 11-year-old boy who unexpectedly becomes Earth’s ambassador to a universe filled with quirky alien beings. He’s a misfit, trying to find his voice, his confidence, and ultimately, where he truly belongs.

But Elio isn’t just a colorful space story—it’s a movie about identity, acceptance, and the courage to be yourself, even when you feel like the odd one out.

Why It Resonates With Faith and Family

As a Christian mom raising children in today’s ever-changing world, I found Elio both fun and deeply meaningful. The film subtly explores themes of:

  • Identity and Purpose – Elio’s journey mirrors what many of us (kids and adults alike) go through. Who am I? Why am I here? These are questions rooted in our faith journeys too.
  • Belonging and Connection – The movie beautifully highlights the importance of family, even the imperfect kind. As believers, we know we’re all part of something bigger—God’s family.
  • Courage and Compassion – Watching Elio grow from a shy, misunderstood kid to someone brave enough to connect with the unknown reminded me of how God equips even the least likely people to do great things.

For Moms and Families

Elio is a movie I’d gladly recommend for family movie night. It’s age-appropriate, visually stunning, and full of teachable moments—perfect for when you want entertainment that nurtures values, not just screens.

After the credits roll, don’t be surprised if your kids start asking deep questions or even dreaming a little bigger. It’s a great opportunity to talk about God’s purpose for their lives and the beauty of being uniquely made.

In a world that often encourages us to blend in, Elio is a delightful reminder that it’s okay to stand out—especially when you’re standing in love, truth, and family. Whether you’re a single mom like me or a parent looking for stories that affirm your family’s values, Elio delivers heart, humor, and a touch of the heavens.
