Welcome, 2025! Right now, many of us are looking for ways to live more intentionally and align our lives with our core values. For me, that means starting the year with a renewed focus on faith, family, and finance. I believe that these three pillars are the foundation of a life well lived, and prioritizing them can help me create a meaningful and balanced year ahead.
Here are some of my plans that I have to help me start 2025 anchored in values I believe in:
Strengthen My Faith
Faith is the anchor that keeps us steady, no matter what storms life brings. This year, I plan to take deliberate steps to deepen my spiritual walk.
- Begin with prayer and gratitude: I plan to start each day with a moment of prayer, thanking God for His guidance and asking for His wisdom in the year ahead.
- Read the Bible regularly: I have signed up and committed to a daily Bible reading plan (reading the Bible in one year). Aside from that, I am planning to regularly join my dgroup (Bible Study Group) at church. God’s Word is a source of strength and direction for every decision we make.
- Serve others: Our faith can grow deeper by serving in our church or community. Volunteering not only reflects Christ’s love but also enriches your soul. I am planning to look for ways on how I can serve in our local church.
Prioritize My Family
Our families are our greatest blessings, and nurturing these relationships should always be a priority.
- Create family goals: We also have a family meeting. This year will not be different. I will be sitting down with my children soon and discussing what I’d like to achieve together in 2025. This could include shared financial goals, spiritual growth, or preparing as one of my children will be moving out this year.
- Be present: As a single mom, making time for each child is hard and expensive. It takes time and even money. This year, I plan to make time for meaningful conversations and activities that doesn’t really require much expense. Whether it’s family dinners or weekend outings (like the coffee shop we usually go to), I plan to prioritize quality time over quantity.
- Support each other: Each of my children has a different perspective on life and also plans for their own future. As a mom, all I can do is encourage one another in personal and spiritual growth. I plan to become my family’s biggest cheerleader and create a home filled with love and understanding.
Take Control of Your Finances
A strong financial foundation can bring peace of mind and open doors to more opportunities for our family and faith-based activities.
- Review our budget: I haven’t perfected our budget due to my financial struggles with debt. Am planning to start the year by assessing our current financial standing. Then, I will create a budget that aligns with my priorities, such as tithing, paying debts, saving, giving, and a little investing if I start to get extra cash.
- Set financial goals: I already have financial goals but I need to identify specific, achievable goals for the year. Most of them will focus more on paying off debt and growing my savings. Having a clear target can help me stay motivated.
- Educate myrself: I will prioritize time to learn more about personal finance. There are plenty of free resources available online to help me grow my financial knowledge. I will continue to listen to podcasts while commuting to work.
Integrating Faith, Family, and Finance
The beauty of these three pillars is how interconnected they are. That is why I really felt that this is the direction I am heading in my content creation journey because it actually is something that I feel passionate about. For example:
- Faith and finance: Tithing and generosity are acts of worship. Starting our financial planning with giving as a priority, trusting that God will provide for our needs.
- Faith and family: Engaging in faith-based family activities, like a weekly Bible study (planning to reactive our family Bible study this year) or a gratitude jar where everyone writes down blessings to share together.
- Family and finance: Working together to achieve shared financial goals, like reducing unnecessary expenses and taking time to plan free family activities.
Starting the Year with Purpose
2025 is a blank slate, ready to be filled with the choices we make. By centering our lives on faith, family, and finance, we will create a strong foundation for a fulfilling year.
